The list of key counties in the tea industry was released at the 20th China Tea Industry Economy Annual Conference held in Yibin City of Sichuan Province recently. Jishou City and Baojing County in Xiangxi Prefecture made the list.
The list is a comprehensive evaluation of key tea producing counties in China in terms of industrial development, brand building, innovation capabilities and other aspects.
Baojing County has integrated tea industry, culture and technology into the whole process of upgrading the quality of Baojing Golden Tea, and the development of the tea industry has reached new heights for years in a row.
Now, the total planting area of Baojing Golden Tea is 155,000 mu (10,333.33 hectares). The annual dry tea production in 2023 reached 1,481 tons, with a comprehensive output value of 2.316 billion yuan, driving 100,000 people to increase income.
Baojing Golden Tea has been awarded more than 30 national and provincial honorary titles, including National Tea Production Key County, National Tea Industry High Quality Development County and China's Important Agricultural Cultural Heritage.
In recent years, the local government of Jishou City has worked to develop the golden tea industry. By the end of 2023, it had 155,000 mu (about 10,333.33 hectares) of tea gardens. The city had dried tea output of 1,853 tons, which generated a comprehensive output value of over 1.4 billion yuan, benefiting 65,000 tea farmers.
Jishou City has won such honors as one of China’s top 100 tea counties and hometown of China’s golden tea. The tea industry has become the leading industry for rural revitalization in Jishou City.
